Former Major Leaguer and Billerica, Mass. native Gary DiSarcina has been named manager of the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox, according to multiple media reports.
DiSarcina, who managed for three seasons at Lowell (Boston’s New York-Penn League affiliate) and served as the organization’s minor league infield coordinator in 2010, replaces Arnie Beyeler, a longtime member of the Red Sox organization who was promoted to first base coach under John Farrell.
The 45-year-old DiSarcina worked as a special assistant to Los Angeles Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto last season.
